The New Battlestar Galactica Colonial Service Uniform photobucket album is here:

"Junior" Officer Colonial Fleet Service Uniform (aka "Service Blues") from the rank of Ensign to Major, has grey piping, ranking pins, and if a qualified pilot or senior pilot, wings, and no other adornments. The standard footware is tactical boots.

THE SERVICE UNIFORM JACKET

The male and female uniforms are basically the same with the female uniform having "darts" to make them fit the contours of a woman's shape. There there appears to be some minor adjustment to the size of some of the uniform's features for size. Here is the measurements taken for the Male uniform and then the female uniform.

The women's jacket has "darts" on the front.

On the back too.

There are some hidden snaps that keep the uniform jacket's flap down and smooth, one on top and a strip on the bottom.

The collar is a sloped manderian type collar with the piping on the top edge all around the collar. The collar is 1" by the time it get to the rank pin, and then tops out at 1.5" and remains even until it mirrors the starting slope on the other side of the collar. It has an opening in the front that varies from nearly touching to 2".

The cuff is pretty simple, its a band 4" wide with piping on both ends.

Only Commander and higher ranks wear the little 1/2" side release buckle on the cuff.

The piping denotes the general Position catagory.

Regular officers (Ensign to Major) has a grey single piping.

Executive Officers (typically the rank of Colonel, but it has been seen on Major Shaw in Razor) has a double piping, a red outer piping and a silver inner piping.

THE SERVICE UNIFORM PANTS

have 3 rectangular belt loops that measure 2.5" tall by 5" wide. The belt is a royal blue (on Razor some were Navy Blue) nylon webbing with a 1.5" side-release buckle usually painted gold, but sometime they are black (on Razor they were black).

Here is what the bottom of the pants look like on Bill Adama's, Col Tye's, and Lt Gateta's of the Colonial Fleet Service Uniforms.

Everyone else has the normal pant cuff.

SERVICE UNIFORM FOOTWEAR

The Colonel Tye and Commander and later Admiral Adama wore boxing boots with sueded leather "spats" (covers over their shoe laces)

Everyone else wear Police Tactical boots from Law Pros.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE YOUR OWN...

I recommend that you use the McCalls M4745 Men's Civil War Costume. It's pretty close, but you have to make your own cuff pattern and that is pretty easy since they aren't button closed. The other change is to make the jacket shorter so it can be tucked into the pants. Don't forget the strip of snaps at the just below the belt line on the jacket to keep the flap from opening up or bunching and the large snap at the top of the flap too.

The female uniforms actually have full princess lines on the front.

The male uniforms have shaping darts on the front.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I wonder if you can tell me what fabric would most closely match the one used on-screen. I've seen screen-used uniforms and can't seem to figure it out. Thanks! Dave.
