I can't identify the goggles... They are not the standard army ones as used in SG-1. Can anyone identify the brand or source?

From the front they look the same as the US Army dust goggles, but from the side you can tell they really stick out.
dsw_777
Yeah, definately not your standard SG-1 goggles. My SG-1 goggles sit at an angle on my helmet so I don't get the same look. I have looked all over and still haven't found a source for these.

Looking at them more closely now I can tell that they're definitely not the standard issue sun/wind/dust goggles, there's no "button" aboe the nose where a small bolt holds the lens in place. We might want to browse some airsoft shops and see what they have in the way of goggles since they tend to stock tactical goggles of all sorts.

As far as the "offworld" uniform goes, they're wearing M65 field jackets underneath their tac vests with OD BDU trousers. The pack I had ID'd awhile back at SG-C.net but I've forgotten what they're called, all I remember is that they're designed as a day pack that can be attached to a larger field pack but can be sold seperately. A surplus shop near my place used to have them but the last couple of times I've checked they only carry them in ARPAT. mad.gif Majors used to carry (that's where I found them originally) but haven't seen it either online or in their catalog for awhile now; maybe I can dig up the original reference photo and we can order it by showing a store the pic.

Aside from the goggles the other tricky piece to ID is the headset. In season 1 they used a Plantronics and I actually have that exact headset but now it's something different. As mentioned in my post about the headset, I'm having a bear of a time trying to ID the exact headset. It has some distinc elements that appear to be very uncommon in most headsets, so far the closest candidate seems to be the Motorola that Dave ID'd but it's definitely not it.

Here's a thought, how about merging my headset topic with this one since they're closely related?

Here's a pic of the pack that the Marines wear with their field gear; unfortunately, there's no name or anything in the pic as I hoped there was.

This is a repost from the headset discussion in the Costume Discussion forum but I think it's worth posting here. This post can be deleted if the headset discussion is merged with this thread.

Since Dave found that Motorola headset it got me to thinking that the headset used might be a Motorola since Dave's was pretty close. After doing a quick search for Motorola headsets I think I've found a match; it's the Motorola model 56320B.

Thanks, Dave. It took me awhile to finally locate that headset but find it I did and I have you to thank for it. If you hadn't found that other headset I'm not sure that I would have thought of to search for Motorola headsets.

The good thing about this headset is that it's a current model and not something that's discontinued and/or rare like a lot of other found items that we come across. Also unlinke other found items this headset is not very expensive either, only $14.99 directly thorugh Motorola and oddly enough that's the best price that I've found anywhere online since it will cost a total of $16.49 shipped. Here's the direct link to the headset at Motorola: http://www.store.motorola.com/mot/en/US/ad...wAddButton=true

The goggles have been identified by Dewback Wing. They are:

After doing a quick search, I've found a place that has them for $26 plus shipping.

A lot cheaper than I was expecting them to be.

I found a local company in Oakland that sells rescue equipment. They say they carry the goggles for $30. I'm going to go by there and check them out when I get a chance.

Looking through the Major's Surplus catalog today I found that they still carry the pack used by the Marines in S2 on Kobol. It's called the CFP 90 Patrol pack and it's on closeout right now for $15 although the website says $25.

If you have any intentions of doing the Marine field uniform I'd pick one up soon since they're on clearance and they only have a limited number of these packs available.
rknightandkarr
which color?

They were using the woodland MARPAT version of the pack on the New BSG

The site says they're $43.99. Was this a short-term sale, or is there an adjustment during checkout? Same with the packs. I'd hate to drop $25 when I could have saved $10, but missed something simple.

I just picked up the CFP 90 the last time I was at Major's for only $15, I think it was on clearance because the other colors of this pack were $25.

As for the goggles, I don't know what happened, they were cheap when I bought mine; they must have raised the price since I posted the link. I'm sure if you look around online you'll be able find a pair for under $30. If worse comes to worse you could always bug Dave (dsw_777) to pick you up a pair if the store in Oakland pans out.
dsw_777
I never got a chance to go there as I bought a pair on eBay for about $30.

If you do a search for Paulson goggles on ebay, you'll find some for $36 shipped. But they have the wrong helmet straps. The company selling them is:

http://www.lncurtis.com/globals/contact.php

They have an Oakland store which was the one I was gonna check. You could give them a call and find out if they carry the other style.

Speaking of eBay, I just bought my earpiece off of eBay for $7.99 plus another $5.99 shipping which is the best price on eBay and even beats Motorola's price which actually beats all other retailers. The seller I bought mine off of has several more in stock so if you're looking for the best price on the S2 headset then eBay is the place to get it.

Hey Phil! Just bought my headset today as well. I almost bought the one you mentioned as that's a damn good price. But I looked down at the list of sellers and found one that has it for one buck cheaper in shipping. Just an FYI.

By the way... I'm figuring out which pistol to carry and I noticed in the very first photo of this thread that it looks like they are carrying clamshells (by the looks of the handle) So I guess we can carry either pistol then?

I'd say so. I plan on carrying a clamshell since that's all I have, provided Dan can get the holsters from The Vest Guy in time.

A friend over on the TCF found these. I bought a set to replace my old riveted ones. Great buy for $10 each set.

Thought I would throw this out there. Apparently Streichers is getting rid of all their Hellstorm items and are selling Marine elbows and knees for pretty cheap. The best part is, I have heard that a lot of people haven't been able to find the knees without the rivets in them. These are the knees without the rivets. Just got mine in today and couldn't be happier!

Hey all,

I've gotten my hands on both a LARGE and MEDIUM Giro BL. From my experience they can fit up to two sizes larger when all the extra padding is removed. As far as I've seen they only come in XS-L. So...

L - L to XXL
M - M to XL
S - S to L
XS - XS to M

I have an XL noggin and the MEDIUM fits perfectly with the padding removed.
The LARGE was a bit wobbly after removing the padding.

Hope this info helps for all you soon to be marines!
BlueFrog
For those with small heads, the small fits great, with all the padding in, although I am not excited about the added warmth....
