Not sure if this was the right place to put this (moderators, feel free to move it if I messed up) but looking for a good recommendations for someone who can make leather accessories for two costumes I am working on. Specifically utility belts/masks. Then maybe later some bigger projects.

If anyone has a good suggestion, please post or PM me. nothing off the shelf will do for these. Don't want to spend a fortune, but want them to look good.

Am in the Atlanta area, but can work with someone online as well as fitting should be pretty easy.

Thanks!

Erica

I'm interested in seeing what kinds of things you guys have done. That way I can determine the craftmanship and quality of the items you are making. Any pictures and what are your price breakdowns?
CaptAres

well, most of my stuff has been the traditional Native American stuff...and I have never really experimented into the realm of Doing stuff for SciFi/Fantasy.

Sound's like things are under control here, but I just figured I'd let y'all know I know a thing or two about leather as well. I've been doing more holsters and wet molding lately but really leather projects in general are sporatic at best...to which I'm sure other leather workers can attest.

Heres a pulse pistol holster I made...

Thanks Matt..... Hoping to meet up with some of these guys at Chattacon.... my projects are pretty basic, so thinking I'll be able to get the help I need..... just a couple of belts, I'm just not a leather-worker in any sense of the word, and I need a belt made for each of my two pending costumes to complete them! Now when I get to work on my black leather Vala costume.... that's another leather story in itself...and then who knows?

Your work is amazing though, been tracking you in some of the other forums. Fantastic stuff.

Thanks Erica, My work may seem extensive but still I use only the most basic of tools.
If all you need are belts I encourage you to try your hand at it. Generally belts are where everyone starts at. The thing about leather work and pretty much true of any craft or trade is that you are limited only by the tools you have on hand. Having more tools and more specialized equipment are key to expanding your horizons in any craft.

But...you have to start somewhere... wink.gif

Thanks for the encouragement..... but think I'm better with power tools and building things......(yes, me with power tools - scary thought) I'll give some thought to attempting it, but might still pull in some expert help for these two if only to get them done in time for my next appearance smile.gif

Planning to corner you at Chattacon for a few min and talk to you about them. Hoping that'll be OK? By then, should have my buckles in and will be able to better show you what I need.
CaptAres

Wow, sounds like there are a fair number of leather workers around here. I was going to try my hand on making my belt/hoslter for a Han Solo costume but I am running out of time before DragonCon. Not even sure if that is enough time for any of you guys. I have the leather and dye already along with most of the basic tools but like I said, I just don't have the time right now. (I'm finishing up my Masters degree.)

What I'm curious about would be roughly how much it would cost if one of you might be able to help me out and actually make it (if you have the time.) Again, I have the leather already.

Thanks,
Tony

I've been working on some hand stitched pouches for a costume. Here are some pics.
