Rook
I really liked the film when it came out, and even now I can watch it without cringing. Are there any Judge Dredd costumers out there?

Russ

Other then the weapons, I really didn't care for the film much.
Rook
Don't hold back Dan, tell me how you really feel. laugh.gif

You're entitled to your opinion... no matter how wrong you are.

(PS: Just kidding bro!)

I'll have to get a LawGiver pistol and be the Judge of that!

The movie stunk, though the practicle ideal`s behind the uniform,I actually did like. Though the "senior" judges attire (with Shoulder Eagle) did look the better of the two field uniforms biggrin.gif
Also the Lawmaster was pretty sweet too,now one of those I`d love to own.

Though l`m more acustomed to the comic Black uniform with Green acc`s & Gold shoulder pads, badge & buckle.

Jason
Rook
It wasn't gold acc's for the comic version... they were YELLOW!
Bright... yellow... wink.gif

The green gloves and whatnot didn't thrill me, because, exactly
how much vegitation is there in Megacity One anyway? smile.gif

The Lawmaster motorbikes flat out rocked. I'm a sport bike fan myself,
and personally don't care for Harley style bikes, but I loved the Lawmasters.
I'd ride one of those in a heartbeat if I could find fiberglass castings of
the body shell. smile.gif

I really liked the costumes and all from the film. Kind a larger
than life feel without being too cheesy. smile.gif

But then, I didn't grow up with 20 years of reading the comics either,
so I wasn't disappointed in anything except perhaps the length of the film.
It should have been longer. smile.gif

And the DVD release shouldn't have sucked so badly. No extras, no
behind the scenes documentaries, no prop shop tours. Craptastic
DVD except for the widescreen presentation.

Ahhhhh if the artwork in the comic was done on any stories that Carlos Ezquerra (Creator of Dredd),well the shoulder pads, buckle & badge were Gold wink.gif

As for the Green, gloves,Pads, boots & belt IMHO I thought worked. It acts like a contrast to the Black uniform & Gold shoulder pads, buckle & badge.

As for the Lawmaster,Yea a Movie Lawmaster would be sweet biggrin.gif Though I`d also go for the comic Version too.I do like the Solid construction of that beastie. The wide tires on the comic one are understandable for traction & also for the weight that`s carried on the comic Lawmaster.

Though Rook,I have grown up reading Dredd & 2000AD since it started. So Dredd was truely formed in my mind prior to the movie.

It`s a Good scifi flick, just not Dredd IMHO.

But those features make it impossible to construct as a functioning item.
Real mototcycles lean from side to side combined with counter steering
the handlebars, to steer at speed. With those big flat bottom tires, there
wouldn't be any leaning going on. smile.gif As I recall from reading the making of
book, they tried going that route (car or truck tires I believe) but it made the
bike impossible to steer.

Very true Rook,though still a sweet ride,even if it`s impracticle...lol

As said I do like the movie Lawmaster & I`d love to know what happened to all those shells,as there is a few Lawmasters in the film.

I too enjoyed Judge Dredd before the movie. Been talking with another over doing a group of Judges for next DCon.

We're still discussing which style Dredd outfit to make. I think we'll lean towards more the comic style. I'm trying to remember who made the Judge helmet, was it SloopyJon? I remember looking on a site that had a bunch of Dredd/AD3000 stuff.

I was going to have two badges, a "Dredd" badge and then my own name for when we're in a group.

I just picked up the 7" action figure at Walmart for references.

Whattya say Rook? Join us? cool.gif

Rook
heh. I'm afraid I'd have to go movie version myself.

Comic helmets are I believe available from Termight Replicas...

http://www.termight.co.uk/

...as well as comic styled Lawgiver pistols.

I have a source for Movie style Lawgivers, and I believe I know another prop
guru of reknown who (as soon as other projects are complete...) may be
working on castings of the hero, firing film Lawgiver.

Interesting times... smile.gif

The movie helmet has always been on my list to add to my fictional helmet collection I will one day own.

The vast majority of the film used props (including the Lawmasters) were owned by one guy who sadly passed away.
The items I believe became the property (no pun intended) of Elstree Props. After that... the trail goes cold.

It's been said that Propstore London may own at least one lawmaster, but I've never seen proof of that. They did own a lot of the costumes including some hero pieces, and they still have one or two prop pieces left in their inventory.

Sadly, that's the problem with the US exchange rate right now. Come to America and live like kings! smile.gif

Looks like we'll have to scratch build and manufacture here in the states until we stop being in a recession.

You notice how you NEVER hear ANYTHING in the news about the international exchange rate of the US dollar?

The president spouts off about how the economy is strong and unemployment is down...
and yet in the world market, our money is worthless.

Sorry, just realized I was on a soapbox there. smile.gif

Actually, our economy is quite strong right now, the only part that's having trouble is the housing market but aside from that we're fine. The strength or lack thereof of the dollar has little to do with the strength of our economy at least it's not an indicator of how our economy is doing. The reason why the government has let the dollar slide so much is in an effort to encourage other nations to buy more American goods.
Rook
The only question I have is: Is it working? smile.gif

All it's done for me is make me stop buying things in the UK.

Rook
LOL, Thanks Jason!

I actually did pick up one of the Dredd movie helmets offered on the RPF last year.
I have a metal Dredd movie badge, and a lawgiver in kit form, but I really want the airsoft conversion kit made by a guy on the RPF.

Wish I could find the rest of the uniform though. Not like I can even afford it now anyway. rolleyes.gif
