USS Constitution
Daedalus Class
Inter-Galactic Battle Cruiser 304
Ship base for the 901st SFS Flying Tigers
Well guys, with all the ideas that I have had for the squadron and team T-shirts, I thought it would be a good idea to form our own ship for squadron and team operations.
This is an idea for a team/squadron ship. I have to thank LT_Bono for the design he made of the USS Poseidon, Which I took and modified for a prototype of the USS Constitution.
I would like to see a different view of the actual ship design, something like an underside and side view of it accelerating after take-off. Like we see when the Prometheus first takes off from its underground ‘dock’. I have done a good bit of modifying to LT_Bono’s design of the patch, but it is beyond my skill to do a completely different angle of the ship. So if anybody had a friend who has the skill and can be coerced into doing the design, start your coercion.
I’m still working on trying to find a T-Shirt maker that can do the squadron t-shirt. I may look into how well cafepress.com can do them, but I would prefer a local dealer. As an after thought, I was thinking about somehow place the idea of the USS Constitution on the right chest of the squadron shirt. But I’m not certain how that will look.
So, as usual, any thoughts or ideas, it is an open forum after all…so chime on in.

I know that Firebat has done a lot of work with designing and actually doing C.G. animation of a Klingon ship before and it looked great. Maybe we can begin the threats and coercion.....errr...I mean negotiations and incentives....

and see if he would be willing to take on a task like this.

That would be great...I'll help with the...um..the negotiations, yea thats it...
below is the pic from LT_Bono that I modified heavaly...its not real good, but it gives us an idea of where to begin...

it is not a real good mod...I've been playing with a cheap phot ed. program I got somehow...
but of course, as I said in the first post..I want a different angle for the ship

Thanks Riptide,
I was trying to come up with something cool. at first I thought about the USS Hammond. I really liked that, but felt that it wasn't right. So I tried to think of some constelations....like the way Shepperd named the ancient ship the Orion.
But again that didn't seem to sound right. Then I remembered that with the historical tint that we have with the flying tigers, that the ship should have a historical tint also.
And I rememberd the USS Constituiton, it is the oldest and only active sail ship in the US Navy. and thus was born the idea of the USS Constitiution IBC-304. In the patch that LT_Bono made for the Posedan, he has the number/letter thing as the BC, but that just didnt sound right. so I made ours the IBC-304 for Inter-Gatalctic Battle Cruiser, because it is an Inter-Galactic Battle Cruiser.
As for my graphic skills...It was just a program that came with something that I bought for my computer....And all it is is a photo editing program....
but here is the first mod that I did...

All I did with the current version was paint the whole background black, and add in the text...so the ship design is still the same as the patch that LT_Bono had made...

If I may step in a sec for some feedback... everything looks cool. Except for the name.
1) It's too Star Trek-y, and
2) It just doesn't fit the naming conventions of ships shown on SG-1 and Atlantis.
But it's your ship...

Daedalus (sp?) is also a name of a Ship on Star Trek, as well as a class of Starship. Just FYI

Yes it is. But in Stargate to date no ship is shown as having the USS naming prefix. I'm sure Trek has a Prometheus and Icarus and other Greco-Roman naming conventions (I do remember the USS Pegasus) too.
Just seems odd. Like those scifi groups at cons that no one talks too.

haha...Good points guys..
The main reason that I went with the USS Constitution is that
1) I couldnt think of much at the time
and 2) with our squadron taking the name of the "flying tigers" I think that it is appropriate that we stayed with the historical military naming..
hence the Constitution.

but I mean the designation....like the navy uses USS for United States Ship...

but do we know of a nubmer/alpha acronym besides x303 or x304 that is used for the ships

Well, Sonny over on SG-C.net (CO of SG-22) has the following sig line:
**Skipper, USS Poseidon BC-322 **
He's had it since the Great Hack, at least, and I can't recall anyone giving him any grief over it.
GateWorld lists the Odyssey as a "Deep Space Carrier", with a registry number of PB3865.
Wiki lists all Daedalus-class vessels as "304s", "BC-304s", and "Daedalus-class 304 Battlecruisers". It repeats the GateWorld registry # for Odyssey, and lists the following in the Trivia section:
"Odyssey carrying the U.S.S. prefix is technically in volation of U.S. Military regulations. U.S.S. or United States Ship specifically denotes a vessel owned and crewed by the United States Navy. It does not cover the entire armed forces. Vessels belonging to other armed services are given their own prefix such as U.S.C.G.C. for a Coast Guard cutter and U.S.A.V. for an Army owned ship. Given their Army heritage, United States Air Force Vessel (U.S.A.F.V.) would be the correct prefix. "
Kant Lavar
Sep 30 2006, 06:44 PM
Of course, given the weight given the "U.S.S." prefix in Star Trek, it wouldn't surprise me at all if people would have started asking questions if they said "U.S.A.F.V. Odyssey" as opposed to "U.S.S. Odyssey."
Although were we to establish a space-based capital ship, I would tend to suspect the reg would get changed, at least on a classified level so people don't start wondering why they'd changed it. >.> <.<

Well first I gotta say that Adonis is way off base on his comment. Odd like one of those groups noone talks too? And then the example given? That's a bit far dude. We're not going that far out into left field for the connection you're trying to make.
I will however agree that the 'USS' part doesn't quite fit with the other ship's designations and naming conventions. Perhaps we should just go with "Constitution"

Wrong.

Look at the patches for the Odyssey... It clearly says "USS Odyssey" on it.

I took the idea of using the USS from Sonny over at SGC.net, & there are a lot of Earth based spacecraft in other scifi that use the USS....
I have also noticed that in Sonny's sig line over at SGC.net that he lists the number for his ship as BC-322...we could
So I took a lot of the naming from him & I understand that the USS designation has not, too date, been used in the stargate universe. So I took the liberty of using the USS b/c Sonny uses it, and that is how I came up with the idea.
Now weather or not the team wants to use the USS, well, I leave that up to a team vote. and I have been thinking of some other changes, here are some of them
the orginal idea;
USS Constitution
IBC-304
...............
Constitution
IBC-304
...............
Constitution
EBC-339
(EBC=Earth Battle Cruiser)
...............
ESS Constitution
IBC-339
(Earth Space Ship)
...............
I figure that if the team wants too, I can take the top 2 or 3 choices and make a poll for a team vote on what we want to use.
I also welcome any suggestions...
Wow, two posts while I was typing the one above up....dammnnn

Not really, at least I don't see why.... We're in one group, we're also in a second group. If you look at it properly, essentially, we're our own group, with two different parent organizations.
