Aloha Team !!!

Someone suggested a few days ago doing a campout somewhere in the middle of our region for an activity idea soon. Say in the next month to month in a half ? Thoughts ? Suggestions ?

Yeah, I was thinking like western VA somewhere ? MP ... how close would that be to you folks in
TN ? Would western VA be doable ?

But I work Friday until about 530 PM...So Fri is kinda out...but my current schedule is that I am off SAT - MON..

That would work. My thought is to plan it like a convention. Arrive Friday sometime during the day and stay Friday and Sat. night. Head back Sunday and work for Monday is a go.

While we're at it, what's the deal with Chattacon? are we thinking about this or not?

I don't see why we can't run to TN for Chattacon and bring the display materials with us ! I just need to know who all is interested in making the road trip for the weekend.

Excellent, BlackJack !!! Find us a nice place to camp will ya ? Preferably with access to electric hook ups. I will have to bring the camper for my wife. She is allergic to the world, it seems - virtually every time of flora and fauna.

Just to kinda throw this out there, do we wanna bring gear and do some photo shots? We could do our membership photos, and possibly even take just some general action poses for grins and giggles.

well, i am trying to find a place where james doesn't have a 6 hour drive.

I might have an idea for a location in Franklin NC. That would be about 3 hours away from James, I believe. Only problem I see is that it is 8 hours from here and even more for the Northern VA folks. Wow...I am beginning to realize how large our region is....

being close to me would be great...but I should suggest that we find a location that is good for all of our team members....

Well I know for the most part, the area between Blacksberg, VA and Bristol, VA/TN. It's about 6 hours from just about everyone that has signed on so far. A few folks (read less than 5) aren't quite as far from that area, but not many.

Alright, let's talk Blacksburg/Christiansburg area. I used to live there (about 25 years ago) but things have changed greatly since I was last there. James, how far would that be from you ? Ideally, I would like something close enough for everyone to be able to make it there Friday night but that might not be feasible. Let's talk about this location..... Thoughts ?

Personally, I like the end of Oct / beginning of Nov.

I would love to go, but I have to work...and, I am already taking leave at the end of November. And I want to save some leave and passes for Conventions. I will keep an eye on the thread, maybe something will open up at work.

Hmm, end of october, I have hallowcon here, it is a small con, about 300 max...the same hotel that libertycon was in when I met blackjack..

and it is my 32 nd b day on the 27th, and I tend to celebrate it at hallow con....


lets look at november, but we need to work around thanksgiving...not like I plan on going anywhere for it, but for those that tend to spend it with family

How is late NOV early DEC. Two creation cons in Jersy early to mid Nov.

I would like to stay away from Late Nov. if possible. Later in Nov. you have Thanksgiving and into Dec. you have the various holiday preparations, parties, expenses, etc. If we can't pull something together by Mid November, we may just want to move it back to March of next year or so. Let the real cold months of Jan and Feb go by and then pick it up.

Sorry for the delay on getting posts onto the boards, but I am finally empting my Inbox of things to be done. (Now I know how Riptide feels at times!) THe other day I was checking the web and found a KOA campsite near blacksburg. The site has cabins. One idea is to go in on a cabin and have a getogether that way. And the area is not too far for everybody. Would this help?
