The base shirt I used was a short-sleeve Dickies twill workshirt (#1574). It won't wrinkle much (which is bad), but it should last a long time (which is good).

You could find those here:
http://www.dickies.com/wc2/product.asp?sty...=101&type=B
Or at any local store that sells Dickies stuff.

The shirt then has to be shortened and of coarse modified with all the pockets, patches, piping (Lt. Pink), epaulets and assorted do-dads.

This pic is minus the front snaps, which should be silver/nickle, in place of the buttons.

I found lt. pink piping thru eBay; one source is here:

How about the green T-shirt?
MacGyver
For those still interested in the NOSTROMO costume, there is a very good thread here (at Aliens Legacy), which talks about the shirt, pants, and jacket -- lots of pics and info.

The green tee is a hard color to find; the one I'm wearing was a fluke purchase at a t-shirt store.

The next best available shirt can be ordered on-line here:
http://www.blankshirts.com/Gildan_2000.htm...9664.4996527778

Look for the 100% cotton tees by Gildan, style 2000, the color is Pistachio.

Ah, great I needed that. Never could find that color...I always suspecrted they got OD surplus t shirts and bleatched them.

Now, have you got any sources for the Racal headset (or copy therof?) Also, somebody did jackets by modifying a military coverall...but which one?
MacGyver
It is very possible they bleached some OD green (or other green colored tees). I have been trying that experiment with some other tees I've found, but so far have not had success achieving the "Alien" green.

As for the Racal Headsets, they are a popular item with costumers (Alien, Aliens, Star Wars, etc), but being old technology, very hard to find. I snagged one when a group purchase was made by friends over at Alien Legacy several years ago, but I am unaware where they made the find? Sorry.

For the Army coveral to jacket idea. Yes, several folks have done that conversion (I have one myself, but never finished). The only label in mine was a neck tag saying "Large 8415-753-6485". We speculated it was a OD green/brown Koren War era coveral, with a green lining, but had no specifics on them. I found mine at a local Military Surplus store. Friends found similar ones by doing the same.

The RAF MK-3 jacket is the true way to go, but they can be pretty pricey and sizes tend to run small. But once you have it there is a lot less work involved in order to make a "Nostromo' jacket.

I hope this helps -- Good hunting!!

All right, then how about this: WHICH surplus store did you go to and do they still have them?

Can you post some photos with measurements for the headst? I have a leg up, I have an original racal headset without the bow that goes over your head or the triangular piece for the other side.

I live in the San Diego area and there are some surplus stores called GI-Joes, but I don't think they are on-line. There also a few in downtown Oceanside, near the pier, but I cannot remember all their names. The stock in these stores always varies, and I'm not really looking anymore, since I've already got my costume finished.

For the headset, I don't have a camera right now, but you can find pics and some good info about mods at this link

I just saw a thread on RPF the other day about this. Someone is putting together a complete Nostromo space suit.

Personally I would go for one of the easier to assemble "light duty" costumes, but ya gotta admire that kind of cosplay propping!
Danger Kronk
At DragonCon Richie's Armor had the helmet and chest piece for the Nostromo space suit. It was ginormous, but cool.
