Riptide
FYI

I received word today that Rrok has been hospitalized while on a social trip to FL. He has been moved out of ICU and is improving. Reports are that he was unaware that he has developed diabetes and his blood sugar was very very high (4 digits high)! I will be checking back in with him again tomorrow and will be keeping up with him over the next few days until he is out of the hospital. I will forward any information back and forth as needed.

I have diabetes and I can fully relate to the problems it brings and the challenges of getting it under control. Luckily, I have been able to keep mine completely under control and I hope the same for Rrok. Please keep Rrok in your thoughts and prayers!

That is all!

Rrok and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. I know how hard diabetes is to control and how dangerous it can be to one's health. I've have had it for the last 5 years and have maintained control. Good luck to Rrok andhis family.

I've forwarded the word to my other friends on the Cobra 21st Infantry forum, requesting PM's and words of encouragement. I'll be in touch with the Wolfpack, as well. I think it'd be important for as many of his friends to know.

Hokey smokes, 1K+? I was diagnosed back in '98 (type II, NID), with a reading of about 500 - but based on slightly elevated glucose #s and other blood markers during a routine checkup a few months before, it was a matter of confirming I had it, really. I'm under pretty good control (seeing a new endocrinologist who's adjusting my oral meds, so my numbers are a little high lately - but nothing like Rrok's!), but I know he's in for a rough period of adjustment. It's a serious challenge - but it CAN be done, by anyone who works at it.

Rrok, once you get back and can check in with us - we're here for you.

Good news everyone!

Rrok is not only doing better, but he has apparently recovered to the point (either that or annoyed the medical staff with his loud open bar parties, it's hard to tell) where he was released from Tampa General last night. From what I hear from Riptide, Rrok is a little worse for wear...I know I would be after an experience like that...but he is otherwise OK.

Thanks to everyone who kept him in their thoughts and prayers, and definitely welcome back, Rrok!

Glad to hear that Rrok is on the road to recovery. I know from experience, (I am Type 2,NID) that you will have to monitor your Blood Sugar and watch those carbs and sugars. And If you are Insulin Dependent, take your insulin as your health care professional advises. Good luck.
