Does anyone know what type of clothing Beadle Bamford wore in the Burton Version of Sweeney Todd? I know it is old style victorian I believe. But, if someone could help me out I would appericate it. Also does anyone know what Type of cane/Club he Used?

sweeney todd is set in victorian england, circa 1846 (at least that's when the original story of Sweeney Todd was published)

so, yes, Beadle would be wearing the shirt with the oversized collars, vest, frock coat, etc of that period...

here's a better picture of what he wore:



canes were pretty popular at that time (although I believe they called them walking sticks then) - lot of were topped with figures of imaginary beasts...some even had stiletto blades inside....(think Lucius Malfoy's wand/cane in the Harry Potter movies)

I'm not expert on the times but I believe that wools and linens were popular and common in Victorian England. I'm not certain that the English made much use of cotton in their clothing during the Victorian era although I do know that England did favor the South during the Civil War because England relied on the South for their cotton.
