Alright boys and girls, I need some help from the ppl of the UK

Basically my current idea for what to wear to go out on halloween (dont worry its a night out at the student union and a club Im not going trick or treating) is to wear the getup worn by the current Doctor.

Heres some lovely photos for you (gotten from the BBC and uploaded to my photobucket)

Ive worked out the basics,

brown 4 button pinstripe suit (what looks like blue stripes) and pockets with flaps
Converse All Stars in either black or white
Brown trenchcoat
Sonic screw driver (theres a toy so thats sorted, lights up and everything)
pair of 3D glasses

I mainly need help with the suit and trenchcoat as Ive been looking all over the net and in a few shops and cant find anything, so if you live in the UK and see anything on a website or a store that has national branches let me know (as obviously its gonna be impossible in a small shop across the country)

If I cant find anything Ill give up and do something else, wanted to have a see which is why Im looking over a month before

Well I made one up for TT20 last June and wore it again at Dcon...

I can tell you right now that it was custom made for David, and you will be hardpressed to find something similar and accurate to his.

Good luck though!

Here is some pics of my costume smile.gif

Doesnt look half bad, Ive got a month to look into it so never know what might turn up

Think my bone structure is a little bit wrong for pretending to be david tenant, where as you seem to have it pretty spot on!

I've heard that there is a very similar one in Burtons, don't know for sure. Never go into Burtons!

BTW next seasons one is blue with claret stripes if that helps.

i saw Justin at TT20 and his suit was very good.

If you go to your local phone book and look under seamstresses and tailors, you can ask around for a price to have the suit done. (unless you are an old hand w the sewing machiene)

Usually people who work out of the home are quite resonable, then you just have to find the fabric!

suit jackets have alot of fiddly bits ( as i learned doing the wonka jacket, all velvet)

Pretty sure, I'll see if I can dig out some reference.

BTW that's me at the back.

Well, had a look at the fabric sample we have here, (due to my work I get access to some of the Doctor Who reference - can't say any more).

It's a mid blue (you knew that anyway) and a thin, deep red/claret pinstripe. Not brown. It's a bit cartoony in real life, I suspect, so that it shows up on screen.
Primrodo
Cool that you work on set smile.gif

Red stripes eh? Sounds awfully silly...in the pictures it looks liek they mainly switched teh stripe and suit colour to make this new one, but I guess red matches his new shoes tongue.gif

I still prefer the brown though.

Here you go, made to measure too!

Yeah I've helped Indy a bit on this. Not 100% accurate just yet though smile.gif

Are you getting a discounted one for your efforts? wink.gif

Someone on outpost gallifrey pointed out a suit and jacket for about $150! The suit was pretty horrible though! smile.gif

I've ordered form them before, their workmanship is great but the fabric is terrible...and they won't change it either.
Primrodo
No discount far as I can tell...some people are unmoving there...

The biggest beef I have with this suit is the fabric, Indy's is close, but the spacing between the pinstripes is too much, its missing lines at this point...but the thickness is way off. Whereas mine is too thin and too light...but teh spacing is right. Lose-lose situation. That and the fact tennants suit doesn't look like a woven pinstripe, more of a screened on line...do you know?

As for the eBay link...pretty good for the price but way off on many details....

Primrodo,

Not bad, not bad at all and can I say that I really love the fact that you look like the 9th and 10th doctor's got all squished together into one Awesome doctor! jumpy.gif
