OK i have never made any kind of armor and i would love to do a space marine from the 40k universe. I want it to look real like this model

or this guys costume

want is the basic to get started on this huge project.

thanks

It's a major vacforming project. The boots, could be made out of rubber to give it flexibility. Since everything is oversized, it would actually be easier to make the vacforming moldes.

just make sure you pick the right chapter of Marines

There are a lot of chapters for the Imperial Space Marines and people do create their own chapter with unique color scheme so that would be some thing to think about.

The blue arnour above is made mostly of a soft flexible material, like latex covered foam/rubber

The gloves are painted cricket gloves wink.gif

There is an easy way and will cost a good bit but when done will be sweet.

Get some hockey armor so you have something as a base and a form of attachment to the body.

Then get alot of 6MM sintra. Take sintra and heat it up. as it gets hot it will be shaped very easy and then freeze it to shock it into place, May need to heat and reshape a little as you go.

You could also make molds and then lay the sintra over it and heat it up and shape it over the mold as you go.

I would strongly recommend agent vacuforming as its shelf life is very short. I got a vacuformed boba style right gauntlet and I gt it used and well to be honest I think I got hosed on that deal cause I got some damages that need to be fixed or else one wrng move and the whole thing will come apart.

Now vacuforming works for storm troopers and that like cause well they do alot of standing around and well I personally think there are better ways than vacuforming cause for one the parts you would be doing may be to big for most vacutables that are out there that many would want you to use.

Now the molds for the sintra idea are not really needed but it does help. You can make molds out of anything and can be reused unlike many vacuformed molds need to be replaced after a while.

But the choice is your and I will be thrilled to see the end result.

good luck.

Yes sintra is easy to work with but does'nt mold well you end up with small warps in it sometimes but it's very durable as for the helmet of the Space Marine it looks like the EOD helmet from Halo just have to make a little mods but it's pretty much exact. Is there a website with more information on tutorials on this I have a friend wanting to do it?

If you want to do a Space Marine Scout I would recommend using a Red Man tactical training suit.

Sintra does mold well, you heat it up to the shape you want then then freeze it to shock the shape to stay. The mando mercs have been doing this method for a long while now. hell the same thing works for the trashcan armor makers.

I am currently working on Pepakura Armor for the Warhammer Marine right now I have a Terminator, Bolter and a standard Space Marine 3D files which I just have to painstakingly break them down for the Pep Designer then I will have full sized Paper Kits of the Armor.
