This show was one of the few interactive out there. Encouraging kids to take part through specially designed toys. These fired light beams at specially integrated cg targets on characters in the show like the Dredd Troopers, and Bio-Dredds. There was also an ending sequence where you could fire more targets as the credits rolled. Even without the toys the show was pretty cool.
The show takes place in the year 2147, earth is a apocalyptic waste land resulting from the Metal Wars. A conflict where machines and man fought, unfortunately the Machines won. *Think like BSG and Terminator* From the chaos arose a small group of trained soldiers, armed with technologically advanced weapons and armor. These armored suits were called Power Suits and reflected the user's personality.
Each character had a spiffy suit and equipment load out.
For Capt. Johnathan Power: Light weight armor with a jump pack and a helmet that allowed for greater target aquisition.
Major Hawk Masterson: A suit capable of high altitude combat complete with O2 mask and special missile launchers.
Lt. Michael "Tank" Ellis: Heavy armor and even heavier weapons. *What? Did you expect anything else from a guy nicknamed Tank?*
Cpl. Jennifer "Pilot" Chase: Light armor and the skills to fly anything in the hangar.
Pvt. Scout Baker: Moderate armor with a chameleon-like cloak field, and communications hacking abilities.
The bad guys were equally equipped depending on the situation. Armies of human collaborators, Legions of cybernetic armored soldiers, and of course, two main bad guys who were more like comic reflief than anything else.
Soaron: a Techno-organic bird man machine that played arial enforcer, using his onboard digitizer to take care of any survivors he came across.
Usually blown out of the sky more times than he was in it.
Blastaar: A humanoid machine similar to Sauron, however he possessed retractable tank treads, heavy armor, collapsable shield, and an energy cannon on his right arm. Actually did more damage than anything or anyone else.
Lord Dredd: A former human scientist named Taggart. His years of interfacing with a laboratory artificial intelligence named Overmind, resulted in his thinknig that humanity needed to be remade, in the perfection of machines. He started the major conflicts of the Metal Wars. During an explosion in his base, Volcania, Taggart was rebuilt by Overmind into a demented half man, half machine. hell bent on completeing his new order.
A well balanced show with a good story line. Cool effects, and laced with interactive features to get the kids in on the fight against Lord Dredd.

Calling 1987! Calling 1987! Come in 1987!
Yes I remember it fondly... the toys. We never had the show where I live and it was the same time ST:TNG had just came out. One christmas I got the good guy fighter and all the figs. and all 3 tapes. Man I ruled that "game"

Yep.. remember the show well. The best part of that show, as a kid, was being able to interact with it

Plus it was how Babylon 5 got started. Because in the pilot I beleive they say, "Everyone on Babylon 5 is ok."
And everyone was after Michael J. to elaborate on what Babylon 5 was.
In the series, Babylon 5 was a colony of humans doing the whole genetic engineering thing. Of course, it went to hell in a hand basket and that's how Tank joined the team. He escaped from Bab 5.

Didn't Pilot die around the same time Tasha Yar was killed on TNG? I seem to remember an article about them killing of female scifi characters around that time...
Did anyone else have the cheapa$$ little Captain Power command center? It was small and molded in blue and silver with some gold, had the CP symbols and a chair that folded in and out. I want to say it was done by a second party with the license from Mattel...

Actually, Pilot was killed when Dredd managed to sucessfully infiltrate the Power Base.
Blastaar dealt the finishing blow before the base destruct kicked in.

I remember this show. They used to have toys for this, where you can join in on the fight sequence in the show. With your toy emulating being hit. I really liked the concept of the show, and the CG was really ahead of its time. I really dont remember much of their names, all I remember was that the leader of the group was Captain Power. And the Overlords minion, Sauron, who can digitize humans, which was supposed to be very painful like torture.
My favorite was the Flying suit, really cant remember any of their names. Too bad the girl though.
