Here's a few pics of me and my buddies in our costumes. Mine was screen used by Katrina's "I want to have babies" Stunt double.

Loki with a rubber Morita. His helmet was used by the camera man's stunt double.

Me with the same Morita.

The whole group in our "soft" parts. Various jackets and pants were used by principal players.

And one of my favs....The Jumpball outfits. Loki's is number 22, the center.

Wow, nice screen used stuff! Hi-Impact made thier own SST stuff until the screen used stuff became available. I had a set, but it was so unfortable that I traded it for some A2 stuff (still haven't gotten my Pulse Rifle). The helmet would try to rip off my ears and cheeks because my round mellon was to big for the helmet!
Schmootika
That happened to Tambo. They are going to try to mod his helmet so he can keep his ears. smile.gif This stuff is purdy damned comfortable to wear. I was actually surprised once I got all geared up.
adicat
impressive most impressive,
just one question... WHY????

lol. i am missing something, cause that movie made me soooooo mad, but i so many people think its the bomb...

then there is the 'roughnecks' stuff, which is actually kinda interseting, i like that better than the movie

did i mention i am rambly today? i am going to stop posting, i am giving myself a headache-- i apologise to all of you!!!
Rook
Yes, yes you are missing something. smile.gif

It's like asking why people liked Robocop when it's a copy of the British Judge Dredd. smile.gif

Or the people that liked Star Trek 5. smile.gif

I've enjoyed the Starship Troopers novel (I read it first back in... 1982 I believe...) and the animated Roughnecks, and I enjoyed the feature film as well.

Okay, I didn't really care for SST2, but most people didn't. The film has slick visuals, decent acting, a good ensemble cast and nice costuming. Everyone harps on and on and on about there not being the powered suits. Okay, that was a little disappointing, but after 15 minutes of watching the film... I got over it. Seriously, George Lucas had a bouncing gold-medal winning digital Yoda and I hear less complaints about that than I did about the lack of powered armor in SST. laugh.gif

Maybe I'm in the minority. I still like the film to this day, I saw it in first run in the theater. I've owned copies on VHS, VHS Widescreen, DVD and finally the special 2 disc DVD edition. I'll probably end up buying it on whichever High Def format survives the war.

It has action. It has romance. It has good characters... and guns... lots of guns. wink.gif

What more could one want?

There's rumors that in the Third film we may finally see the "ape" armor. Since Ed Neumier is writing the screenplay, and since digital FX technology has come a long way in the last 10 years, anything is possible.

Wow, I just realized I was ranting. I'll go shut up now. wink.gif

Russ
lostncybr
When Starship Troopers was first going into production, the script called for powered "jump suits" but the first concepts were scraped because the armor hid the actors. Then they came up with an extoskulleten concept, but in the end they scraped that because of cost. It was cheaper for them to cast a few hundred background actors, suit them up then have them all CG. The movie went over budget to the point that it took two studios to bankroll the movie.

and yes.
tongue.gif
Danger Kronk
I liked it too, but mostly for Dina Meyer's boobs. wink.gif

Anywho, here's the link to SST3 for those who "Want to know more":

I should add some SST Grenades (bug bombs) to the list of props in the Members' only store smile.gif
Rook
Yes you should. smile.gif

I still want to make a "hero" version someday with the push button top and "spoon." The foamies (both grenades and magazines) that come with the SST uniforms are in pretty sad shape.

Russ
lostncybr
That is true! I have a set of the stunt grenades and they suck! Hey, post up pictures of the grenade's spoon too! I have the grenade, but no spoon.
Rook
I think I posted pics of the Rico hero grenade (from the tanker bug scene) in the photo archives.

Unlike the "spoon" on a real grenade, the metal bar "flip" was achived by pressing down on the spring loaded button on top of the grenade. Button comes down, spoon flips up. Simple mechanism, but cool. smile.gif

Russ
Rrok
Me and Firebat have a joke inspired that movie, when it comes to 'being volunteered' for something.....

"Congradulations Citizen, you've been selected to volunteer...."

I actually liked the film.
Schmootika
Check it out!! My bug made the paper last weekend! I am just so proud.....oh and the geek he's sitting on is my friend Loki. tongue.gif

And they both really rocked......deserve the coverage.... You and Loki looked great!

Erica

okay, providing i can ignore the same for bodies at every slaughter, i might give the movie a second try based on the fact that you all love it.

i honestly am not picky and like almost anything, so the fact that this movie drove me nuts... well, i dunno.

well if someone has a copy at Dragon Con-- i invite you to change my mind!
Schmootika
I will be at D*Con in full armor. Maybe that will change your mind when you get to see it for yourself. biggrin.gif
Schmootika
Here's the one good shot I have found of us from this weekend.
Danger Kronk
Hey look! It's a bunch of Alliance troops from Firefly! wink.gif

You mean these outfits.... tongue.gif

Well, glad to know ya now!!
Goomba
LOL, yep, good to know you now too biggrin.gif
TrooperCooper
Time for the Englisher to weigh in! biggrin.gif

I'm really starting to dig the idea of getting this kit together myself. Russ has sorted my out with many of my concerns (thanks man!) but my big problem (so to speak) is:

Did they do pants in a 44" waist? dry.gif
Schmootika
I believe they do. You'll have to drop my guy a line and see what he can find in the warehouse. You'll need to know your pants size, jacket, and shoes. If you are really interested, I will get you in contact with him.

We can always use another trooper. You don't wanna live forever, do ya? tongue.gif
TrooperCooper
Oh hells no biggrin.gif

Would love you to put me in contact - I would like the uniform atleast. And hell, I've got my Doom and Aliens gear set aside for my jaunt across the Atlantic to Dragon*Con - why can't I take my place in the Mobile Infantry as well? smile.gif
Schmootika
Oh hells yeah!!! Fresh meat for the grinder! biggrin.gif

I will send you an email addy shortly, cadet.
TrooperCooper
Yes Ma'am! Thank you Ma'am! biggrin.gif
Schmootika
I got a package in the mail the other day. Another costume for my SST collection. tongue.gif Once I get pics taken, I will be happy to share. I just love spandex! biggrin.gif
Rook
mad.gif Must sell kidney to buy more SST uniforms... wink.gif

Looking forward to seeing what comes out of the box Schmootika!

Russ
Schmootika
My latest acquisition...

TrooperCooper
This should be the moment that I go ahead and make inappropriate jokes about being open to tackling in this instance. Being the honourable, polite and above all gentlemanly Englishman that I am, I will naturally refrain. wink.gif

Another fantastic costume! What position was No.9?
Schmootika
I know I saw him on screen when Zander made the touch down and he was one of the guys that Dizzy tackled. biggrin.gif
Rook
You DO love the spandex, don't you? smile.gif

But you wear it so well!

Looks great! Honestly, I think that one looks better on you than the Tigers uniform does. Now, go tackle Loki! laugh.gif

Russ
adicat
okay.. you people HAVE to explain the facination to me at D*Con, i swear this is the most enthusiastic thread on SFH !!!!

BTW, in response to a post on page one... NOBODY liked Star Trek 5, if they say they did, they are LIARS!

Yes....the spandex makes me all tingly! And I shall have a go at Loki soon enough! tongue.gif
Loki
I wouldn't object to being tackled.

I got one too! I got #23, haven't been able to find him yet...

I really love a commanding officer that doesn't mind getting down and dirty with the troops. tongue.gif

So Rook, let's do a comparison shot.......Which do you like more?
EKBATL
wow! which one...... have to say, I'm torn.... as a girlie girl, I normally go for basic black (LOL) but S, I have to say that I like the new one alot..... and I am SO jealous.

And Loki is a cutie-pie - you should totally tackle him. I just wish my funds would let me jump in! (did that sound bad? didn't mean it to smile.gif )

But truly, spandex is a wonderful thing.... no gal should be without it.

I'm sure we'd be more than willing to let you jump in darlin'! tongue.gif wink.gif

I love the black as well. I'm also a basic black kinda gal but the grey and blue does kinda look good. I'll wear both and let the crowd decide.

Well, since you asked... wink.gif

I like the black design the most, but the blue and grey/silver just seems to work for you.

Maybe it's just me. smile.gif
