Hi Everyone:

My name is Jennifer and I’m working on a brand new television series called “Fanatical” about fans of TV shows. I’m researching an episode on Stargate, and I’m posting on this message board in the hopes of getting in touch with some big fans. Here’s a little about our show:

It’s a 26 part documentary series which explores popular TV shows through the eyes of the fans. Each episode will focus on a different program - everything from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to The Simpsons, and of course Stargate - and will feature 2-3 fans of the program from Canada and the US. The series will unearth: why the fans love the show, how watching the show and collecting memorabilia makes them feel, what their friends and family think of their love for the show, and the culture of their particular fandom (individual shows express their fandom differently – look at Sex & the City fans compared to Dukes of Hazzard fans).

“Fanatical” is currently airing in Canada on TVtropolis, a new Canadian Network devoted to airing re-runs of classic TV shows. You can catch “Fanatical” Tuesdays at 7 pm and 11:30 pm ET/PT.

More information about our series can be found at our company’s website at http://www.peacepoint.tv/pr/ABOUTFANatical.pdf

If you’re interested in participating or may be able to offer assistance please drop me a line at jennifer@peacepoint.tv

I look forward to hearing from you,
Jennifer

(EDIT BY DION: Jennifer's Address has been removed until Dean makes further contact and clears us participating in this project. Please be patient.)

Everyone,

Lets not be so quick to jump the gun here. Hairy (Dean) is the media contact and volunteer coordinator for Stargatehero.net, and he is making contact with Jennifer.

We should first let Dean do his job and find out more about the project before just going over him to send in emails.

Please be patient and lets hear back from Dean first. I'm sure everyone will get their chance to be heard.

Thank you.

Ops... Chain Command always gets you! unsure.gif

No worries.

We just don't look very organized if our Media Contact and Volunteer Officer makes contact, and then the organizer gets flooded with emails from the membership before anything can even be set up.

Looks much better if Dean represents us first, and we work through him. smile.gif

When Jennifer contacted me she stated she was looking "fans", not "fan group mods and admins". I gave her the web addresses of two fan sites so that she could make contact with INDIVIDUALS. It's pretty egotistical to assert that the admins of the forum should have exclusive rights to contact a person who made an open invitation to everyone. If anyone wishes to contact Jennifer, send me a PM or email and I will provide the contact information. I have her email address, work address, phone and fax numbers.

Jennifer called me today!

We talked for about 38 minutes... tongue.gif We had great talk about the show, characters, and my re-enlistment with Amanda this past March. She told me there is three levels to the interview for you to be a candidate for the show... She has passed me onto her supervisor moving me to the second level. I will be called again in few days. More to come on this...

I told Jennifer today I am not looking for fame out of this. My goal if I am selected as one of the candidates is to at least point out how important this show is to many many people and the level of depth she show has attained this past 10 yrs and reflect on how the SciFi channel is making a huge mistake...

Scruff,

Do you care to elaborate on your statements? I don't quite follow your reasons for calling the admins of the forum egotistical.

The only reason the email address was removed was simply to let Dean do his job as the "Media Contact" of this site. I do not think that's a reason for calling the admins "egotistical."

It's also a little bit of a jump to assume the "Admins" wanted exclusive rights to Jennifer, when my only intention was to let Dean contact her first to organize this. Obviously the email address was returned and poeple are free to contact her as they wish.

I agree with Dean on this because there are so many misleading people out there, that will do anything to hurt you.

I dont want to see you go out there and spend all this money to be somewhere and find out no one heard about it.
