I will be starting to build my gold NSD Dalek soon with the help of a friend who has just built his. I have purchased a fan made ring modulator for the voice.
Total build should be around the $500 - 600 mark. I will post progress pics if any one is interested, should take about 4 - 6 months.

Definitely post progress pics, I'd like to see this project come to life. Will it be full sized and be able to house an operator?

Yes it will be full sized and able to fit me in it. I will try and get an old electric wheelchair to cannibalize, if not then I will rely on good old foot power for locomotion.

That sounds pretty cool, I always that a Dalek costume would be pretty cool to make/have. The nice thing about it is that you could ride your costume all around a convention and stock the inside with snacks and drinks and you'd also have storage for any swag or other goodies that you might pick up.

You'd be surprised in how little room there is in a Dalek. blink.gif

Well the voice modulator arrived today and I have had great fun playing with it. You have to speak in a monotone and really enunciate the words to sound correct. Also won a set of the ear lights on ebay.

Just missed out on motorized wheelchair for the Dalek by 2.00 pounds GRRRRRRRR.

Anyway bought the front part of the eye stalk.

I will place the front part of a torch behind the front section, lightly sand over the plastic front of the torch to give it a diffused look and place a blue LED behind. Hopefully with paint it should look something like this.

More pics as I progress.
