I'm looking at getting a new car in another year or so and I'm seriously looking at the new '09 Mazda6, a car that sits very high on my list, so high that it's the only car that I'd really consider buying. So I wanted to know if people here have or know people who have had experience with Mazdas and what's their thoughts and opinions about them were. Do they find them to be good and reliable cars with few to no major problems with maintenance costs being reasonably low? Do they enjoy their Mazdas after owning it for several years, do they hold up well?
Just so you know where I'm coming from I currently own an '02 Jetta (which is currently in the shop) and it's probably been one of the worst cars that I've owned. Lots of problems, some big, some small, and scheduled maintenance costs are high; basically I can't wait to get rid of it but sadly I got it as a lease and bought the lease so I still owe $5,500 on it before I can seriously think about a new car. Because of my experience it's really important to me that any new car that I might get doesn't turn out to be the lemon that my Jetta is; now more VWs for me in the future and I can't seriously recommend them unless it's a model that's made in Germany (German engineering and Mexican labor just do not mix well). I'm going to be very glad once my stupid Jetta is all paid off (13 months & counting) and I can get into a nice new Mazda6; preferably a nice slightly used lease turn in so I can save on all that nasty depreciation.
