I just saw the new Transformers movie yesterday. It was good and the military equipment was decent (they got rid of the multi-cam but now have some strange forward mounts on many of the weapons that were made for the movie). The “Nest” team thing was odd for me as that’s what they call the people who handle the transit and recovery of nuclear weapons. While I still can’t understand while Lennox (now a Major) doesn’t wear a Green beret as he is in that branch (nor is anyone wearing things like jump wings, CIB’s etc), I was wondering what patches they were wearing and wondered if anyone is making replicas of them. You’d think this would be an easy costume to put together. However, I guess nobody is making them yet. Here’s someone else asking the same question. The patch he posted is the same everyone else is wearing: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showt...nsformers+patch

Yeah, there's a serious lack of consistency in thier military uniforms since the lastr movie - but no more than I've come to expect from Hollywood. The motivational or unit-specifc patch you mentioned is neat though - even if the motto is cliche.

My favorite part of this was Master Sgt./E-7 Epps (Tyrese) wearing Chief Master Sgt./E-9 stripes the whole movie, heh.

It wasn’t as bad as the last movie, where they all wore multicam stuff in the desert and ACU’s in the US. I still don’t get why only one guy in Lennox’s team wore a green beret. With full DoD support, you’d have thought someone would have gotten all that correct.
Beats me why they thought real weapons didn’t look “cool” enough and now they have these odd cartoon-looking foregrips on them now.
And as someone who had to go through a lot of “call for fire” training for uncle sam, don’t get me started on the laughable “fire support mission” radio traffic in the last movie. “Attack direction west, cleared in hot.” Yeah, real FACs don’t talk like that, folks!

Intergalactic is now making both the "I'll kill you" patch as well as the "combat" patch I still haven't ID'd as any real command:

I got get a set of them as it was really about the only thing I needed for that outfit. I would need the coyote brown vest to make it complete, but for a convention, I think a full ACU set with those patches (I already have the IR reflective blood type and color US flag patches courtesy of Uncle Sam) and a weapon would do it anyway. I already have a very tricked-out M-4 that would work just fine with that, so for less than twenty clams, I have an alternate to my “Space” Above and Beyond” outfit (but considering I have been to one con in over 20 years, why I need a backup for anything escapes me at the moment).
I found some photos of uniforms used in the movie here, but some are lacking some parts. Note the SF tab on one of them:

This would be a neat scene to re-create at a Con, even if it would be just a little impractical to do so: http://armylive.dodlive.mil/files/2009/07/...-copyright1.jpg
I also found a neat photo from the original movie, which is a look I won’t be attempting at all:

I got the DVD yesterday and haven’t gotten much time with it yet, but the “making of” segments show that there was a totally different set of patches used in the “China” scenes. It’s almost impossible to get a image where you can see for sure what it says. They immediately went to different uniforms, patches and equipment in the scenes after that, and I’m not sure at all why that was.
