You can't have just one... laugh.gif I'm still working on upgrading these two, but thought I would post these pics. They are about 90% accurate with working lights and only weight about 12-15 pounds each. Not to mention they fire silly string as well. rolleyes.gif

"Do!" "Ray!" "Egon!"

Very sweet, and they fire silly string you say? What would the slime shooters fire? That "Ecto Plasm" they marketed with the 1980 toys?

How long and difficult was it to build that scifi grail?
dsw_777
Here are some of the light effects on the wands.

Also a couple of pics of my ghost trap that I built with mostly scrap material left over from the proton pack construction.

Druels.....

I was gonna start my own thread asking this but as you obviously have such good gear Ill ask here

Would these patchesTHIS be accurate in size? (going by proportions to each other and assuming they are correct)

Are there any other places to get patches? Im still looking for a cost effective flightsuit that will do without needing to dye it (likely go wrong with me), mayb I should do the GB2 version.

Wish I could build great replicas like your Packs and trap, bit of overkill for a halloween costume but would look amazing!

Thanks

Since the ebay auction doesn't give any measurements for the patches, it hard to say.

Basically from what I understand the GB patch is 5" tall. I'm not sure about the size of the name patch but I think is is 3" tall by 6" wide, but that is just an educated guess.
dsw_777
I'll take some measurements and post a few pics when I get home. Are you across the pond?
starburst
Yeah Im UK bound, causes some nasty problems with putting a GB costume together as the cheap flightsuits are pretty difficult to get hold off, especially in the right colour.

Appreciate the help mate
Rook
The no ghost shoulder patch I have is 3.5" from red edge to red edge, and 4.5" from ghost fingertip to fingertip.

The Venkman name patch I have is 5.75" x 2.25"

They were made by "Ghostbuster Joseph" and are regarded as one of the most accurate "available."

Amazing packs, my friend! You just had to go and bring this up didn't you? Now I look back at my neglected pack sitting in my buddies basement. It needs a severe overhaul - it weighs a good 30 pounds or more. Alas, I have not the coin to go all crazy on it. But at least I can look at the pictures and pretend it's easy on the back!

Sorry for the shameless pics, that's who I am. But I am uber jealous of your gear, if that makes you feel better. wink.gif

Also, starburst - you'd be surprised how little people know what actually goes on the back of a proton pack. You could cheaply throw some project boxes and things on the back and as long as it has those 4 red lights on it, a gun with a hose, and a bunch of wires - people will still go "OH! Ghostbusters, no way!" I've gone through several pack changes and my very first was pretty inaccurate and cost effective and people still got it. That with a very cheap flightsuit and some patches, you could fool a lot of folk. I've made a few uncanon props as well and people still think they saw them in the movie. And you could get a khaki flightsuit now and dye it later to fit more the GB1 color. Basically, if you wanna be bustin' ghosts this Halloween, strap on your macguyver hat and get to it!

Anyone remember that fellow who made a REAL Ghostbusters cartoon pack? That thing was slick.

Ive been looking for a khaki FS for last day or 2, cant find any here in the UK and Im not sure if theres enough time for delivery from the States (or even wheres best to order from) sad.gif
Templar
You could always fake it for now and use khaki coveralls like the mechanics use. smile.gif

Ive looked into all sorts of jumpsuits and flightsuits and neither are found in the UK (easily), I was thinking about ordering one from the states, one of these in Khaki look pretty accurate (Im more picky with my own costumes than I tend to let on)

Anyone got one of these or recomend a better one?

Main thing I need to look for is anything to make a simplified version of the costume better, any tips?
dsw_777
Yeah! More ghostheads!!! Wassup Kenobius! Love the pack! I've been through three so far myself. I can relate to the whole weight thing. My first pack was about 30 pounds. That's why my two packs are made using vacuformed shells and mostly plastic or resin parts. In all, the packs weighs about 15 pounds with batteries and silly string canister. It makes a big diff when you wear it for several hours at a convention.

Starburst. Some of the details that really makes the Ghostbusters costume standout other then a proton pack would be the elbow pads, chemical gloves, leather keychain fobs and the hanging hose. It wouldn't hurt to have a bottle of slime to smear some on the suit as well. Or maybe some ready whip... laugh.gif

Does Amazon.com ship to the UK? They have a lot of the accessories I mentioned.
starburst
Amazon, really...Ill go check it out

EDIT- my attempts to find this kit is circling the proverbial pan, so far I cant find a FS in the UK or one that I know I can order, the pads are discontinued and Im completly lost on Amazon

other than that Im having fun though, havent been this interested in a project since I started SG costuming 3 years ago.

Mayb I should try asking one of you guys nicely to get me a flightsuit and post it me....any offers (lol)

Thanks for helping smile.gif

Man... I really wish I had any clue how to make that stuff / what I'd need / facilities to make it, etc., etc...

Hell, I have no tools besides my Leatherman and the odd screwdriver I've (ahem) borrowed from time to time. My next real project is an SG-1 MP-5 - I have all the parts I need identified, but getting the hole in the scope mount drilled is what's hanging me up.

KHAAAN!
dsw_777
Chris!

Check this out. One of the members of the GB site is auctioning off his FS.

James,

Talk to Rook or check out his website www.rookscastle.com

I think the mount is cast aluminum so it shouldn't be too hard to drill with a sharp bit and fast enough drill.

If anyone is interested here is a copy on my post about getting some GB items on Amazon.

Hello, My name is Bob and Im an Intern at First Christian Church of Kissimmee Florida.
I was intrigued and was wondering if you would be interested in maybe selling one of your proton packs. I myself am a ghostbuster fan and I have always loved the films, fan films and other enthusists. So, maybe if you could help me out or know someone who would be interested. Let me know, My goal is to give children this halloween at my church something to enjoy seeing, and keeping the ghostbusters alive.
Thank you,
Bob
