I finished this up just in time for CONvergence.

Screen accurate? Not at all.

However, it does convey the "look" of the Avatar kit, and it was constructed almost completely of found items at a cost of about $5.00 not counting the mask (which was $30).

I'm going to have this kit, with a CADPAT vest and pants, plus a painted Nerf Longstrike, as my complete costume. I do have one accurate prop: a licensed replica dogtag.

My goal is not so much to be screen accurate (I'm not), but that people who see me recognize the costume as an Avatar soldier.

How much did you mod the mask? Have any before/after pics?

It's actually a UVEX Bionic Face Sheild, not a gas mask. I picked it because it was significantly cheaper than a gas mask would be, more comfortable to wear, and it looks like the actual prop.

I added the cylindrical intake on the mask and the lights on the side. The "intake" is a container for Green Slime. The lights are a visorlight for a ballcap. I got everything you see at AxMan except the mask itself and the Slime container, which I kept from years ago because it looked cool.
